This Week's Actions

1 - Sign on to One Million Rising - Indivisible's national campaign to train one million Americans to lead a local resistance movement. There’s no escaping it; Trump and his enablers are becoming bolder and our slide toward authoritarianism is accelerating. With institutions failing to meet the challenge, it falls to us -- the pro-democracy majority -- to defeat fascism. This new effort will dramatically ramp up defiance and non-cooperation tactics society-wide, whether it be at corporations, education, the media, or neighborhoods. Learn more about the program at the first virtual meeting, Wednesday, July 16, 5pm. Register now!

2 - SIGN UP for Good Trouble Lives On, happening THIS THURSDAY, 5pm, Nevada City - Each day brings new attacks on our rights as the Trump regime chips away at our democracy. But in the tradition of the late John Lewis, Americans across the country will rise up this Thursday in a mass, nonviolent demonstration for freedom and justice.
Nevada County Democrats will ALSO gather at Mill and Main streets in Grass Valley at 11:30am.
RSVP for Nevada City's protest HERE.

3 - Contact our blue state governor and lawmakers to fight back against Trump's immigration policies & the Gestapo Democratic governors, mayors, and lawmakers have the power to stop secret police tactics like abductions by masked ICE agents. Indivisible has a national Blue State Defiance toolkit to help you identify who to contact and what to call for. Click here for more INFO.

2 - Join Indivisible co-founders, Leah and Ezra, every Thursday in their "What's the Plan?" zoom call. Every Thursday at 12pm PT, our co-founders jump online to break down the news and answer your questions directly! This week will include a discussion about the BBB.

On a Personal Note ...

I am speaking to you in first person, because what is happening is starting to hit close to home.

This past Saturday, I received a text from my sister. My niece had just heard from her close friend, Rachel. Rachel's husband, Gui, was taken by ICE. Gui is a Brazilian man. They were married this past April.

The masked ICE agents showed up in their small community in the San Juan Islands, WA, with several cars and no warrant. They could not tell Gui why he was being taken or where he was being taken. As they left the island, the agents laughed at Gui and his circumstance, and said they were just glad there were no TV cameras or protestors.

Gui and Rachel were going through all of the proper channels to obtain his Green Card. He is not a criminal, he has nothing on his record.

At the temporary detention facility, he was shackled from wrists to ankles. One agent said his travel visa was expired. Another told him his work visa was expired. He slept on a cold floor and vomited when he tried to eat the meager food they provided. Legally he was only supposed to be kept in the temporary facility for 12 hours. He was there for 38.

Rachel and Gui have found an immigration lawyer. Gui is lucky to have been given a court date for the end of this month.
But he is still in the detention center in Tacoma.

Rachel is 7 months pregnant.

This is one story of thousands.

Please see the Action Item #3 above.
We all must do what we can to stop this cruelty.
Keep pushing back.

Do you have a story?

Are you or a friend or family member being affected by Trump's regime?
