As a member of this community, I am outraged that our local Representatives are hosting a job fair at William Jessup University in which ICE, Customs & Border Protection (CBP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are recruiting students. As documented in video footage, these programs have engaged in lawless and harmful behavior. Their conduct has been one of terror - even resulting in death during pursuits and incarceration. Our youth need jobs and entry into professions that will offer them a promising future - not entry into criminal life!

At this meeting, the board will be voting on which member will take on the role of Board President. The Board President is the person who decides what will/will not be on the agenda for each meeting and is also the public facing representative of the board. This meeting is our opportunity as community members, parents, staff, and students to let the board know that we want someone who will listen to and act in the interest of students and not publicly demean fellow board members. As a reminder, current MAGA board president Andrew Klein has publicly defamed fellow board members, as well as refused to support the "Every Student Belongs" resolution last spring. Please note - Klein could be re-elected for another term as President.
We need a board president that puts our students first - not a MAGA agenda.
We need a board president that has the skills to work with the other board members, listen to our student, school, and community needs, and not to create drama within our school districts.
We need a board president that does not publicly defame his fellow team members.
The public can make comments regarding this decision, so this meeting is our chance to get Klein out of the role of board president and encourage the board to select Wendy Willoughby or Olivia Pritchett as board president.
Please plan on attending this very important meeting on Wednesday. Come at the beginning of the meeting! You'll have a chance to hear the student showcases + the selection of officers is also at the beginning (probably about 6:15pm). Prepare any comments to 2 minutes.
