Vote Yes On Prop 50
Help Save Our Democratic System
The actions of Trump and the Texas Republicans represent an existential threat to our democratic system. If Californians don’t act now, the GOP will rig the 2026 election and steal control of Congress. The time is now to protect the system that gives us all a voice.

California proposition 50, also knows as the “Election Rigging Response Act” is a measure that counters partisan, mid-decade gerrymandering efforts by Republicans in Texas and other states to unfairly shift the U.S. house of representatives permanently in their favor.
The proposition temporarily allows state legislature to replace independent voting district maps with legislature-drawn maps, before returning redistricting to the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission following the next census.

Gerrymandering has been weaponized by the Texas legislature as a way to ensure they do not have to compete in fair elections to retain power. During a 2025 special session, in the middle of the decade, Texas passed house bill 4, which allowed the legislature to decide their own districts with the clear purpose of reducing the voice of the American people.
This partisan congressional redistricting unfairly manufactures seats for only one party, and is plainly against basic democratic principles. If allowed to go unchallenged, we risk further sliding away from a democratic republic. California must rise to the occasion and balance the playing field.

No. Proposition 50 was written to only go into effect if Texas decided to ignore the will of the people. Unlike Texas, CA Prop 50 will expire after the next census, at which point redistricting efforts will return to the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission.

Yes. California Proposition 50 is a democratic solution to the problem of gerrymandering. Since the proposition is posed to the people of California, they are able to decide independently if they agree with the legislation. This is in opposition to Republican efforts to gerrymander, which do not take into account voter wishes, and are enacted unilaterally.
Prop 50 reaffirms California’s commitment to independent redistricting and calls on all states to commit to fair and impartial maps.
Our position is that this is the only way to oppose clearly partisan gerrymandering, and maintain democracy. We hope you do as well, and that you’ll vote with us on November 1.
